What To Expect From President Trump’s First State Of The Union Speech

On Tuesday a divided nation will watch President Trump’s first State of the Union speech.

With a booming economy and a decisive victory over Democrats in a government shut down face-off, President Donald Trump is set to deliver his first State of the Union speech on Tuesday.

There is a 17-year low in unemployment, a 17-year low in illegal immigrants crossing the Southern border and a stock market that his hit record highs for him to brag about when he gives his speech.

But the president also gives the speech with the specter of the investigation into alleged ties between his campaign and Russia, headed by special counsel Robert Mueller, in the shadows.

This week it was reported that the president had ordered the firing of Mueller, only to change his mind when White House counsel Don McGahn threatened to quit, The New York Times reported.

President Trump dismissed the story when asked in Davos on Friday.

“Fake news, folks,” he said. “Fake news. A typical New York Times fake story.”

But that won’t stop the president from discussing his vision for a “a safe, strong and proud America” into the future, Fox News reported.

“We want every American to know the dignity of a hard day’s work, we want every child to be safe in their homes at night, and we want every citizen to be proud of this land that we love,” he will say, according to an advance copy of the speech obtained by Fox News.

Senior White House staff told Fox News that the president will be “hopeful, visionary, patriotic, strong and unifying,” in his speech, and will also speak from the heart and show a softer side.

President Trump is expected to tout the American Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that he and Republicans made law and to brag about the bonuses given by hundreds of companies since the law was signed.

He is also expected to mention illegal immigration and his plan to provide a pathway to citizenship for 1.8 million illegal aliens, protection for DREAMers, people who were brought to America illegally as children, and funding for a wall along the Southern border.

The president is expected to campaign for $1 trillion in infrastructure investment to repair the roads, bridges and airports of America, providing jobs for thousands of citizens, according to Fox News.

Rep.  Joe Kennedy III, one of the president’s toughest opponents, is set to give the Democrat response to the speech.

No matter what side you are on it is bound to be entertaining.
