LAPD Scandal: 100 Guns Including Grenade Launcher Found At Home Cop Accused of Sex With A 15-Year-Old Cadet

LAPD Scandal: Seven teens in the LA cadet program arrested for stealing LAPD equipment. An officer involved is charged with statutory rape of a cadet.

L.A.P.D. arrested A 31-year old Los Angeles police officer last week for allegedly having sex with a 15-year old female member of the L.A. cadet program. The LAPD scandal resulted in a search warrant for the home of the officer, Robert Cain. There, According to the LA Times, officers found over 100 guns including a dysfunctional grenade launcher at Cain’s residence. California has strict gun laws including a ban on assault weapons like the AR-15. Thus, Cain could possibly face additional charges if any of the guns are illegal.

The relationship between Cain and the cadet came to light after seven cadets were arrested for a scandal that involved stealing and crashing three police cruisers. Three cadets, driving two stolen police cruisers, lead police on a car chase through South Los Angeles last Wednesday. The car chase ended in both cruisers crashing and a third stolen cruiser found elsewhere. The crashes then lead to an investigation which turned up inappropriate text messages between Cain and one of the cadets.

Cain was not responsible for running the LAPD cadet program; however, according to multiple reports he was in charge of the checkout program for police equipment. Besides stealing police cruisers, LAPD is looking into whether the teens stole additional equipment including: bulletproof vests, tasers, and police radios. LAPD Chief Charlie Beck reported the teens used the equipment to make traffic stops on a couple of occasions. One of the police cruisers originally went missing last May. When the cruiser was ‘found’ last week in the police pursuit, the car had an additional 1000 miles on the odometer since it was last officially checked out. The teens’ access to LAPD equipment suggests officer Cain’s involvement.

Officer Cain was out on bail last Friday and awaits a July 21 court date.
