Breaking Down Dem Response To Trump Address

On Tuesday Sen. Charles Schumer and House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi responded to President Donald Trump’s address to the nation on the need for a wall at the Southern Border.

“This senseless shutdown has been full of misinformation.”

The Democrats accused the president of lying to the American citizens about the need for the wall.

“Much of what we have heard from President Trump throughout this senseless shutdown has been full of misinformation and even malice,” Pelosi said as she stood next to Schumer. “The President has chosen fear. We want to start with the facts.”

“The fact is: On the very first day of this Congress, House Democrats passed Senate Republican legislation to re-open government and fund smart, effective border security solutions,” she said.

But she did not mention that they did not include funding for the wall.

“But, the president is rejecting these bipartisan bills which would re-open government – over his obsession with forcing American taxpayers to waste billions of dollars on an expensive and ineffective wall – a wall he always promised Mexico would pay for,” she said.

The obvious solution.

“Most presidents have used Oval Office addresses for noble purposes,” Schumer charged. “This president just used the backdrop of the Oval Office to manufacture a crisis, stoke fear and divert attention from the turmoil in his administration.”

“There is an obvious solution: separate the shutdown from the arguments over border security. There is bipartisan legislation – supported by Democrats and Republicans – to re-open government while allowing debate over border security to continue,” Sen Schumer said.

“The symbol of America should be the Statue of Liberty, not a thirty-foot wall,” he said. “So, our suggestion is a simple one, Mr. President: Re-open the government and we can work to resolve our differences over border security. But end this shutdown now.”

In a video of his own, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said “Mr. President, we don’t need to create artificial crises. We have enough real ones.”

Both of these “politicians” have been in the past, strong advocates for a border to protect this country. It has been recorded by the news media and replayed many times since this dispute started which proves they are flip/flopping on this issue. Why? Even former President Obama, as a senator was video recorded saying we needed this type of protection. All these people were for this border but now that the current president wants it, they are all against it. What’s with that? Sounds like sour grapes over the 2016 election results and this is just another way to help the current president fail in his efforts to fulfill his campaign promises. Even with the documentation of the Border Patrol that do this kind of work every day, they too say this kind of protection is needed due to the vast increases of illegal crossings at the borders. Now there is word that another caravan is coming with approximately 15,000 people in it. That number would overwhelm our border patrol easily and unless they are able to defend themselves, they too will become victims of this “invasion” by illegals. Who are we to believe? The rhetoric being spewed by people with their own political agenda or believe the facts presented by Homeland Security and the Border patrol? This is so wrong for this to be happening. Could be why people don’t like politicians because they have shown they can’t be believed especially if what they are doing is for their own gain and not for the people of this country. What has happened to our morals?
