Mueller Investigation About To End

The investigation into President Donald Trump by special counsel Robert Mueller is about to wrap up.

The New York Times reported on Sunday that Mueller plans to conclude the investigation by Sept. 1, according to President Trump’s attorney, and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Giuliani said that Mueller’s team shared the timeline with attorneys for the president around two weeks ago and intend to wrap the investigation into whether he believes the president obstructed justice in the Russia investigation by then because dragging it on could influence the midterm elections.

“You don’t want another repeat of the 2016 election where you get contrary reports at the end and you don’t know how it affected the election,” Giuliani told The Times.

Giuliani framed the end of the investigation as a battle to decide who is more credible, President Trump or former FBI Director James Comey.

“We want the concentration of this to be on Comey versus the president’s credibility, and I think we win that and people get that,” the former mayor said. Giuliani said that President Trump wants the American citizens to know the results of the investigation and does not want it hidden because, he believes, that prolonging the mystery would damage Republicans during the midterm elections.

That was a sentiment that the president expressed on Sunday in a tweet.

“Now that the Witch Hunt has given up on Russia and is looking at the rest of the World, they should easily be able to take it into the Mid-Term Elections where they can put some hurt on the Republican Party. Don’t worry about Dems FISA Abuse, missing Emails or Fraudulent Dossier!” the president wrote.

Mueller’s team has been looking into the possibility of having President Trump sit with them for an interview to determine if there was collusion between the president’s team and the Russians during the 2016 presidential election.

Giuliani said the president could still be interviewed by Mueller’s team and that the details were still being worked on.
