Jojo Rabbit is a World War II era satire that follows a lonely German boy who must confront his blind nationalism as he is aided by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler.

Jojo Rabbit is an upcoming dark comedy that’s being described as “anti-hate satire”, centering on a preteen German boy who idolizes the Nazi party during World War II.

A trailer for the new film was released this week with actors Roman Griffin Davis portraying the young boy named Jojo “Rabbit”, and Scarlett Johansson as his mother. When the lonely Jojo discovers that his single mother is hiding a young Jewish girl in their attic, he must confront his blind nationalism.

Writer/director Taika Waititi will notably play Jojo’s imaginary friend: a ludicrous version of Adolf Hitler, who appears to comfort the boy initially, with misguided advice.

Also starring in the film is Oscar-winning actor Sam Rockwell, comedic actress Rebel Wilson, along with Roman Griffin Davis, Thomasin McKenzie, Stephen Merchant and Alfie Allen.

Waititi is an Oscar-nominated filmmaker from New Zealand, who recently directed the 2017 superhero film, Thor: Ragnarok. He has also acted in several films including Avengers: Endgame.

Born to a Jewish mother and Polynesian father, when Waititi was asked about portraying Hitler in his new film, he answered: “What better f—— you to that guy?”

The director also further explained that it wouldn’t necessarily be true to the real-life Hitler, but a child’s vision of him instead.

Jojo Rabbit is based on a best-selling 2008 novel, “Caging Skies,” by New Zealand-Belgian author Christine Leunens. The novel was a dark comedy about a young and enthusiastic member of the Hitler Youth who discovers that his parents are keeping a big secret.

The new movie looks to be an interesting study on political and moral clashes within family and society that will no doubt be timely in the U.S. and abroad. The trailer proclaims that it will “[go] to war on hate”.

Jojo Rabbit will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2019. It is scheduled to be released on October 18, 2019, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Ethnic cleansing and murder by the Germans was a crime against humanity — even something ostensibly worse, “THE Holocaust”.

Ethnic cleansing and murder by zionists, however, is deemed OK.
