Middle School Student Killed During Anti-Gun School Walkout

This is why you do not allow children to leave school during school hours when parents have entrusted their kid’s care to you.

An 11-year-old boy was struck and killed by a pickup truck on Friday when he, and other students, walked out of their El Paso, Texas school to protest gun laws, The New York Times reported.

Think about that. What does an 11-year-old know about gun laws and the Constitution? If he is anything like the majority of us were at age 11, not a ton. But he and his classmates were given an excuse to leave school and be used as props for the Democrat Party, and what kid is going to say no to leaving school?

“Obviously everybody’s in a state of shock,” Ysleta Independent School District Xavier De La Torre said at a press conference.

Jonathan Benko and 12 to 15 other students from Parkland Middle School, which shares its name with the Florida high school that started the current anti-gun drive, walked out of school on Friday and the teachers and administration let them do it.

But as kids sometimes do, they left school property to visit a park on another side of the city and they had to cross a busy highway to get there, The Times reported.

As he attempted to cross, Benko was hit by a Ford F-150. He was rushed to University Medical Center of El Paso where he died.

His mother Ashley Benko works as a nurse at the hospital and his uncle works there as a respiratory therapist.

“All of us at U.M.C. are heartbroken by the loss of a child belonging to one of our associates, especially a child as young as Jonathan,” Jacob Cintron, who serves as the chief executive of the medical center, said in a statement.

“What we’ve come to understand is that there are students out there that are very vocal, that are going to be our future leaders that are going to insist upon walking out,” De La Torre said. “And what we try to do is help them understand that they can still have a voice and that they can still have a presence and demonstrate their recognition and honor of some of the things that have happened in this country without leaving the premises.”

One idea would be acting as the adults and telling them that they cannot leave school. Kids have wanted to leave school since school began. As adults you are supposed to be the authority. Do it before other kids are killed.
