13-Year-Old Girl Fatally Stabs Friend During Sleepover, What Mother Did is Shocking

A 13-year-old Texas girl stabbed her friend to death after an argument about a sleepover, but as horrid as that is the story actually gets worse.

The 13-year-old girl suspect is being held in custody in the fatal stabbing of Nylah Lightfoot, 14, after the two girls had a verbal fight on Tuesday during a sleepover, according to police, Boston 25 News reported.

But the victim’s mother, Anntoinette Carter, told the Star-Telegram that that was not how it happened. She said that the argument started when the suspect asked to spend the night at the victim’s house and the Lightfoot said “no.”

The accused murderer in the case asked Lightfoot to come to her house to get clothes that she had left there, according to Carter. The two argued and eventually had a fight which, she said, Lightfoot won. But the suspect, angered by the altercation, came back with a knife and stabbed the victim.

The victim was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

What made matters worse is that, according to reports, the suspect’s mother watched the stabbing happen and did nothing.

“Now I’m daughterless,” Carter told the Star-Telegram. “And my heart feels like it’s just been ripped out and stomped on.”

Dwight Roberts, the victim’s grandfather, said at the hearing for the accused that he wants justice for his granddaughter.

“This is just a wake-up call for everybody,” he said. “Not only my grandkids but other kids. When your parents tell you not to do something, don’t do it. Just wait. Live another day.”

A woman, who identified herself as the suspect’s mother but did not give her name, said that there is more to the story that has not been reported.

“The truth will come out,” she said as she left the hearing.

Homicide detectives said that the name of the suspect was known to them prior to the stabbing, indicating that the teen had previous issues with the law.
