American Contractors Kill 17 Iraqis in 2007

The private security company Blackwater was stationed in Iraq in 2007 along with other private security companies. However, as the New York Times reports Blackwater had a reputation for being excessively aggressive cowboys with poor training. War is complicated and messy and civilians are too often casualties. Private security firms are not branches of the U.S. military. Below is a video and a New York Times report of how easily civilians can be killed in a war zone.  As of 2017 Blackwater now operates under the name Academi. The founder of Blackwater is Erik Prince who’s sister Betsy DeVos serves as Secretary of Education under Trump.
