John Kerry Fears Sanders Will Take ‘Down The Democratic Party’ As He Ponders Run
He was heard in the call explaining what he would have to do to get into the race to stop “the possibility of Bernie Sanders taking down the Democratic Party — down whole.”
The Democrat Party establishment is said to be terrified of the prospect that Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders could win the Democratic primary.
The loaded Democrat field, fronted by a former vice president and several senators, has failed to stop him, but a new challenger may be coming.
His Own Man
Sanders is an independent that caucuses with the Democrats but when it comes to policies his ideas go further left than the centrists who have been the core of the party.
But since his unsuccessful campaign for the nomination in 2016 many other Democrats have begun to mimic some of his policy ideas, like universal healthcare and student loan forgiveness.
Like President Donald Trump in 2020, his party did not treat him as a serious candidate. But now, days away from the Iowa Caucus, Sanders is surging in the polls.
The Chosen Man
By all accounts Vice President Joe Biden is the chosen candidate of the establishment, like Hillary Clinton was in 2016.
They believe, as they did with her, that he is the most electable of their candidates, though they could likely live with Sen. Warren or Klobuchar carrying the torch.
And judging by the way they did gymnastics to bend their own rules to make the path simpler for New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg they could probably live with him too.
The New Man
Rumors began circulating on Sunday the former Secretary of State John Kerry was considering a run for President of the United States.
Kerry is entrenched in the Democratic establishment and has already lost a bid for president as his party’s nominee against former President George H.W. Bush.
But Kerry, in a rather fiery and non-diplomatic fashion, denied those rumors in an uncharacteristically profanity laced tweet.
“As I told the reporter, I am absolutely not running for President. Any report otherwise is f***ing (or categorically) false,” he said in the tweet that has since been deleted. “I’ve been proud to campaign with my good friend Joe Biden, who is going to win the nomination, beat Trump, and make an outstanding president.”
The Conversation
Despite his denials, Kerry was overheard in a telephone conversation by an NBC News analyst expressing concerns about Sanders destroying the Democratic Party.
He was heard in the call explaining what he would have to do to get into the race to stop “the possibility of Bernie Sanders taking down the Democratic Party — down whole.”
He mentioned that he would not be able to make paid speeches anymore and would have to step down from his position at Bank of America when the analyst allegedly heard him say “maybe I’m f—ing deluding myself here.”
“This is a complete and total misinterpretation based on overhearing only one side of a phone conversation. A friend who watches too much cable called me wondering whether I’d ever jump into the race late in the game if Democrats were choosing an unelectable nominee. I listed all the reasons I could not possibly do that and would not — and will not under any circumstances — do that,” Kerry said to NBC News.
But he did not deny what he was alleged to have said about Sanders on the call and that shows the fear the party has for the Democratic-Socialist senator.
Much like in the case of Trump in 2016 when the Republican establishment was not enamored with him, the party may not have much choice if the people demand Sanders.
The article states, “Kerry is entrenched in the Democratic establishment and has already lost a bid for president as his party’s nominee against former President George H.W. Bush.”
He actually ran against George W. Bush aka Junior…
The Democratic party is corrupt and should be “taken down”! But not before the even-more-corrupt Republican party is taken down!
