New Michelle And Barack Obama Netflix Series In The Works
A new unnamed Michelle and Barack Obama Netflix series is in negotiations. The Obamas are expected to be focusing on inspirational stories and not commenting on current politics.
The former president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle will be featured on a series of new shows on Netflix. The amount of shows or episodes has not been announced yet. The Obama Netflix series will be the first major return to the spotlight for both Mr. and Mrs. Obama.
According to a New York Times report, the Obamas are currently in talks with the streaming giant, which has nearly 118 million subscribers worldwide.
Early reports indicate that the Obamas do not intend to use their new platform to respond to the Trump presidency or conservative critics. Instead, the shows will focus on inspirational stories.
One possible show idea would feature Obama moderating conversations on topics that dominated his presidency, including health care, immigration and climate change.
Another idea would feature the former First Lady on various topics, including nutrition, which she drew focus on while living in the White House.
“President and Mrs. Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire,” Eric Schultz, Obama’s senior advisor, told the Times. “As they consider their future personal plans, they continue to explore new ways to help others tell and share their stories.”
It’s unclear how much the Obamas would be paid in the Netflix deal. They recently signed a joint book deal for over $65 million. Mr. Obama has been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for speeches in the United States and around the world.
Reports reveal that executives from Apple and Amazon, which have their own streaming services, have also expressed interest in talking with Mr. Obama about content deals.
The former president has maintained a low profile since leaving office in 2017. The Obamas still live in Washington but are rarely seen in public.
Barack Obama currently has 101 million Twitter followers and 55 million people who have liked his Facebook page. News of a new show will certainly please his fans.
