Volvo Announces All Cars To Go Electric in 2019

Volvo is dedicated to reducing carbon footprint.

On July 5th 2017, Swedish automaker Volvo announced that every one of their cars in 2019 will have an electric motor.

“This is about the customer,” said Håkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive. “People increasingly demand electrified cars and we want to respond to our customers’ current and future needs. You can now pick and choose whichever electrified Volvo you wish.”

According to Volvo’s press release, Volvo will unveil a wide variety of electric cars. Their lineup will include electric cars, hybrid cars and mild hybrid cars. The company will launch five fully electric cars between 2019 and 2021. Three of those models will be high performance cars coming from Volvo’s performance division.

This will move the automotive industry in a new direction towards becoming more environmentally conscious. Tesla will no longer be the only automaker with a wide range of electric cars. Volvo’s move will hopefully put more pressure on other automakers to follow in the same footsteps.  Read more about Volvo’s announcement HERE.
