Should Brett Kavanaugh be confirmed as a Supreme Court justice?
It doesn’t matter what I think because he will be confirmed regardless of what BS comes out of the media’s mouth. He will be confirmed because in this day and age, it’s Corporate America, not you (surprise), who calls the shots. Kavanaugh’s confirmation will not revolve around Roe versus Wade, although the media hopes you will think as much.
However, if his confirmation were in doubt, I would advise him to wear a t-shirt to the confirmation hearings upon which is imprinted the pithy caption: “I Love John McCain.” I would also advise him to imprint upon this t-shirt a picture of John McCain dressed as Rambo (bandana and grease paint mandatory) employing a machine gun in each arm to mow down innocent citizens of the Middle East. This would clinch it for him, as most of our Senators are fairly bloodthirsty and in favor of killing whether it’s barbarians from the Middle East or unborn babies from the womb. Both represent a dire threat to our way of life, you see.
But his confirmation is not in doubt because Brett Kavanaugh routinely comes down on the side of Corporate America when it comes to regulation by federal agencies, and this gives Corporate America an erection. Corporate America needs this erection to keep f**king the American people out of its money for decades to come through more useless wars.
The only obstacle to Kavanaugh’s confirmation, and it’s not really an obstacle, is how to fool the public that a legitimate debate took place in which citizens have a real say, which they do not.
Kavanaugh will be portrayed to the American people as a right-wing reactionary, which he is not; philosophically he is closer to the Bush family which is fine and dandy with Corporate America. This portrayal will be employed to energize “the conservative base” to defeat the “America-hating” liberals, to get revenge once again for what was done to Robert Bork, a former Supreme Court nominee. That Robert Bork has already been avenged fifteen times over will never be addressed; revenge and confirmation for Kavanaugh is necessary and essential to the survival of America. Sean Hannity will tell you so.
And so the dog and pony show will run on. You will see Senators feign concern for Kavanaugh’s radical opinions before they are finally “persuaded” to climb on board. What will “persuade” them are corporate campaign donations.
Barring some major skeleton in his closet, Brett Kavanaugh will be confirmed.
But who knows? Maybe his great-great-great-great grandfather owned slaves. Or maybe his dad took a picture of him when he was eight standing beside a Confederate statue. These are important issues in America today, right?
Only if they serve to distract you from what is really going on.
